Amid shelling by Russian forces in the town of Rubizhne in Ukraine’s eastern Luhansk region, a tanker storing nitric acid was struck and exploded, sending a towering cloud of toxic red smoke into the sky. Residents were advised to remain in shelters and not venture out. The photo of a child’s toy stained with blood, retrieved from a railway station in Kramatorsk hit by a Russian missile strike, is widely being shared around the world. The blood-soaked toy, which has become a symbol of the terrible human toll of the war, will be shared as evidence with the United Nations, Ukraine said.
